DOING GOOD SYLLABUS

Program Title: Good Deeds Day:

Doing Good Practical Solutions for Community Resillience and Empowerment in The Gambia


Target Audience: Schools Students, Entrepreneurs, Community Leaders, Civil Societies and Change-Makers


Duration: 12 Weeks (Flexible for adaptation)


Objective: To equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to make impactful contributions to society while addressing real-world challenges using innovative and practical solutions.

MODULE 1: Introduction to Doing Good

Week 1: Understanding the Concept of Doing Good

  • Definition of "Doing Good" and its impact on society.

  • Ethical and sustainable approaches to community development.

  • Case studies: Successful "Doing Good" initiatives around the world.

Week 2: Challenges in The Gambia and Tujereng Case Study

  • Identifying key challenges in The Gambia: Food insecurity, unemployment, and digital illiteracy.

  • Introduction to Tujereng as a prototype village for Food Bank operations.

  • Overview of the Tujereng Food Bank's existing structure, food delivery system, and savings programs for stakeholders.

MODULE 2: The Food Bank as a Tool for Combating Hunger

Week 3: Overview of the Food Bank System

  • What is a Food Bank?

  • Logistics and management of food distribution.

  • Collaboration with farmers, suppliers, and donors.

Week 4: Tujereng as a Model Food Bank

  • Field visit to the Tujereng Food Bank branch.

  • Understanding the food delivery process and member savings initiatives.

  • Workshop: Creating a plan for replicating the Tujereng model in other communities.

Week 5: Expanding Food Security through Practical Solutions

  • Encouraging sustainable agricultural practices to support Food Banks.

  • Building a network of farmers, stakeholders, and volunteers.

  • Simulation: Designing a community food distribution and savings program.

MODULE 3: Wixad Software for Digital Transformation

Week 6: Digital Literacy and Its Importance

  • Understanding the digital divide in The Gambia.

  • How Wixad Software supports digital inclusion and education.

  • Basics of using Wixad Software: Overview and functionalities.

Week 7: Leveraging Wixad Software in Food Bank Operations

  • Training on using Wixad Software for managing Food Bank logistics, inventory, and data collection.

  • Developing simple digital solutions for challenges in food distribution and stakeholder engagement.

  • Workshop: Building a Wixad-powered tracking and savings tool for Food Bank operations.

Week 8: Practical Case Study with Wixad Software

  • Real-life application of Wixad Software in Tujereng for Food Bank efficiency.

  • Group activity: Design and present a Wixad Software-based solution for improving Food Bank processes.

MODULE 4: TIVVET – Empowering Through Skills Development

Week 9: Introduction to TIVVET (Internet Village Vocational Education Technology)

  • The role of vocational training in economic development.

  • Overview of TIVVET programs and their integration with practical tools.

  • Workshop: Identifying skill gaps in The Gambia and developing solutions.

Week 10: Practical Training with TIVVET

  • Hands-on training in selected vocational skills:

    • ICT and Digital Skills (e.g., web design, coding)

    • Agriculture and Food Processing

    • Business and Entrepreneurship

  • Building career pathways for TIVVET graduates.

Week 11: Integrating TIVVET with the Tujereng Food Bank and Wixad Software

  • How TIVVET graduates can support Tujereng’s Food Bank operations.

  • Using Wixad Software to enhance vocational education and management systems.

  • Fieldwork: Engage in a TIVVET workshop or contribute to a Tujereng Food Bank initiative.

MODULE 5: Final Project and Sustainability Plan

Week 12: Capstone Project

  • Each participant designs and presents a project that integrates Food Bank, Wixad Software, and TIVVET to address a real community issue.

  • Tujereng Prototype Focus: Include plans for replicating the Tujereng Food Bank model in another community.

  • Project components:

    • Problem identification

    • Proposed solution using one or more tools (Food Bank, Wixad Software, TIVVET)

    • Sustainability and impact assessment

Evaluation and Certification

  • Assessment Criteria:

    • Participation in workshops and fieldwork (30%)

    • Practical application of skills (40%)

    • Final Capstone Project (30%)

  • Certification:
    Participants will receive a "Certificate of Completion in Community Empowerment and Development" endorsed by Internet Village.

Outcome

By the end of the program, participants will:

  1. Understand how to tackle food insecurity through the Tujereng Food Bank model.

  2. Develop digital literacy and leverage Wixad Software for problem-solving.

  3. Gain practical vocational skills via TIVVET to promote economic growth.

  4. Design and implement sustainable community development projects.
